Helen Kwalwasser, Violinist

Helen Kwalwasser, Professor of Violin and Artistic Advisor for String Instruction at Temple University's Ester Boyer College of Music, studied with Efrem Zimbalist at The Curtis Institute and with Ivan Galamian at the Julliard School of Music.

She has made hundreds of appearances as soloist and chamber musician throughout North and South America and Europe.  For the past thirty-four years, she has been a member of the prestigious New York Chamber Soloists.  As Concertmaster of the American Chamber Orchestra and Princeton Chamber Orchestra, she has played over 100 solo performances of Mozart and Bach concerti.  She is currently principal soloist and advisor to the Davidsbund Chamber Players.  In the past 12 years, she has served as Conductor-Concertmaster of Temple University's Chamber Orchestra, where she leads the Orchestra from the Concertmaster's chair.

Professor Kwalwasser has adjudicated for numerous musical organizations in the United States, including the Philadelphia Orchestra's Young Soloist Award.  She has also judged coast-to-coast in Canada's Young Artist Award and Stepping Stones.  She has presented Master Classes throughout the United States, in China for the Beijing, Xian, and Shanghai Conservatories, and for the Vietnam Conservatory in Hanoi, as well as the Government Chamber Orchestra in Hong Kong.

She is the recipient of Temple University's coveted Creative Achievement Award, the Exceptional Faculty Award, and the Lindback Award for excellence in teaching.

Helen Kwalwasser has recorded chamber music for Odyssey, Vanguard, Westminster, Library of Recorded Masterworks, Golden Crest, Delos Records as well as Dutch Radio and German Radio at Baden Baden.  She has been a frequent performer in venues such as Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, The Library of Congress as well as Berlin Philharmonic Hall, London's Wigmore Hall, and The Belles Artes Hall in Buenos-Aires, Argentina.
